The Hong Kong Blondes were one of the first Hacktivist groups. They are a group of computer scientists and human rights activists striving for democracy in China. The goal of the group was to disrupt computer networks in The People's Republic of China in order to allow Chinese citizens to access censored content on the Internet. They were given a considerable amount of help in the 1990s by the Cult of the Dead Cow, but the cDc severed ties with the Hong Kong Blondes in 1998.
